The Locomotive of Freedom: a sustainable adventure in harmony with our mother Earth.

In January 2010, three young Europeans, Nicola, Raphael and Benjamin, founders of Locomotive Organisation, will hit the road for a unique journey. Starting point: The Netherlands. Destination: Latin America. To be crossed: Europe, Africa and the Atlantic ocean. The three adventurers will show that it is possible to live and travel while respecting the earth and it’s earthlings.

The trio will reduce it’s CO2 emissions to a minimum using only hitchhiking, boathiking or walking. Therefore no airplanes, trains or buses will be taken during the whole trip. As the meat industry is responsible for more than half of all man-made Greenhouse Gases, their diet will be vegetarian. All electronic devices will be only powered with renewable energy from the solar backpacks. Water will be provided through the Lifesaver Bottle that can filter any kind of sweet water.

This journey aims to demonstrate that everything human beings need is already out there: some cars are always going in the same direction as the travelers or some food will be always left out by somebody. The three travelers will show that it is possible to live with the wastes of the society to denounce humanity’s over-consumption and wasting habits. Avoiding consumerism, they will not buy any products during this journey, money will be used only for emergencies and visas. They will not sleep in any hostels, hotels or campsites, enjoying the wonderful hospitality of the people or the starry sky!

The trio will leave in complete freedom with themselves and the environment, Latin America is the only destination, they will then move freely in a timeless journey exploring the untraveled paths. Sharing is everything! The trio is open to talk with everyone, listening to their stories and telling their own. Through these encounters, they want to increase the understanding of the diversity of the world and its inhabitants.

Being all three photographers, writers and video-makers, they will report on their adventures to the world as well as focusing their lenses on positive actions people undertake in order to make this world a better place by promoting peace, equality and respect for diversity. They will also depict the problems the world is facing today, such as over-consumption, pollution, poverty, inequity and prejudices. Workshops and cultural events, aimed at promoting environmental consciousness, equality, multiculturalism and art, will be organized with the people, wherever the possibilities may be found. The aim is to bring the people together all around the world emphasizing that what unites us is much stronger that what divides us.

The adventures of the three travelers will appear online. The trio will update regularly depending on the availability of the Internet.

A self-made documentary will relate the adventures and experiences of the trio to be shown to the entire world for free. It’s goal is, on one hand to stimulate and inspire the people to pursue their dreams, and on the other hand to promote a sustainable way of living as a solution for an improvement of the quality of everyone’s life. Furthermore, photo exhibitions of travel photographs as well as screenings of the documentary will be organized all around the world after the journey.

Locomotive Organisation – creative actions for a conscious world -

From December 15th on, Nikolas Konstantin will inaugurate his unique exhibition “10 Countries”, which shows the notion of “Diversity” in an extraordinary light. The pictures display the manifoldness of the young generation and may be found on the 4th floor of the Oval in The Hague University.

Our modern society is characterized by its inherent multiplicity and still – there are only a few places on this planet where this precious attribute is joyously celebrated.

The inspirational exhibition that features pictures of students from various countries located all over the world has been created to emphasize this unique attribute. The young faces are shown in distinctive settings, expressing different emotions. The techniques of the pictures accentuate the many facets of today’s generation and the immanent disparities that diversity inevitably entails. The portraits could not be more distinctive and yet, the young people share one crucial characteristic – They are all students of The Hague University.

With this extraordinary exhibition, the students of The Hague University want to make the statement that diversity is an irreplaceable and wonderful attribute of our world today, which accompanies the process of blurring borders and differences among people, cultures, religions and every other part of society.

Enjoy the opening of the exhibition on Tuesday, 15th 16:30 in the HEBOS Canteen in the HHS.

Have you any plans for this summer? Why don`t you spend 4 beautiful days with people from all over the world to celebrate, discuss, think and open our eyes for new ways of living, in a sustainable way for all humans and our planet earth!

Erasmus Last Dance is coming… come on board!

We are three young world citizens who became friends in The Hague during our international studies here, Benji from France, Nicola from Italy and Raphael from Berlin. After a lot of work with the international students in The Hague and travels all around the globe, we opened our eyes for opportunities and founded our own Organization, Locomotive. Our vision is to connect the world, share with people and find all together new possibilities, new opportunities, new alternatives to make this world a better place for all. Rich from our international experiences and many nice weekend trips we organizer for the Erasmus student in The Hague, we elaborated the Erasmus Last Dance project: a long weekend workshop where we will spend four days together to share our visions and dreams, exchange our feelings and hopes, and question our self on how to respect each other and respect our planet.

The main themes of this workshop are:

I. Discover the world
Use your five senses everyday to get the most out of life
Travel cheap and sustainable with open eyes, open minds and open hearts
Share your travels with the worlds

II. Understand world’s problems and share with other to find solutions
Learn how to solve problems as an international team
think outside of the box to find solutions
Question yourself on how international life has changed our lives
and how diversity means richness
We are part of a system
Sustainability and environment

III. Take actions
Change your way of life in accordance with your ideals
Use art to solve problems
Involve yourself
A perfect day!
Love!

This workshop aim to create think tanks which will help us open our eyes for new ways of thinking - for new ways of living! We want to exchange ideas with whom we will broaden our horizon of possibilities. We gonna see and enjoy the nature, on a wonderful island, we will appreciate each other, share what we have in our minds, our hearts and enjoy a time with people from different cultural backgrounds. It will be melting pot of diversity which will enrich our visions. In this reunion with over 50 people we will have an inspiring international atmosphere where people live their dreams and harvest their inspiring surrounding to create a better world and to find ones own path!
